It's just makeup

Pros

Free product, (some) really great peers, decent work/life balance for the most part, summer Fridays. It could have been great, as I actually liked my job, but the "bad eggs" in leadership and toxic culture (see below) made things unbearable.

Cons

Leadership is super juvenile and unprofessional. As others have commented, there's A LOT of catty politics and favoritism for those who are French/LVMH. Culture of fear, finger pointing and throwing others under the bus. Also, the products are getting too gimmicky and lack real innovation. They're behind on trends.

Pros

The pros of benefit boutiques are the family like atmosphere all the employees have not including the manager. I also really enjoyed the products very innovative.

Cons

When I first started at benefit I was very excited and happy to be working for such an innovative and fun brand. However that quickly changed, my manager could care less about wanting to further the careers of the other employees. She never took the time to train me and just threw me into it, she was too busy training other managers that we're getting promotions. I was doomed from the start unfortunately, the company makes a lot of promises and never comes through on them. It's very discouraging to someone who is so passionate, we would ask for positive re-enforcement but my manager would always say "that's your job, I don't have to give you positive feedback". The company (boutiques) is a joke they push you to sell sell sell and want to create a "shark like atmosphere". The store is also completely dirt, mold in each vent that looks like hair mold on the mop we use to clean the floor with and my manager would clean the hot water container used to make spiced cider with floor cleaner. It's a very unsanitary boutique, the company needs a medical grade cleaning company to come and deep clean. My manager once said to me "you preform better when your backed into a wall", if that's not poor management I don't know what is. It also blows my mind that my manager who does not have a cosmetology license does services in the store, which is completely illegal. She does lash tints brow tints, fake lash applications you name it! Once she's done she always says "don't call corporate lol" it's so crazy to me that people who have no loyalty to you expect you to cover up for them. All in all benefit is a fun line however not a fun company to work for boutique wise.

Catty Employees

Pros

Fun events. Free makeup.

Cons

The employees are catty and the environment is very corporate. Everywhere you go you hear employees (especially management) talking bad about each other and then act nice when they see each other. No one seems genuinely happy. You also hear management complaining about their work.
