Pros

If you love, girly, pink and cosmetics, then this is the place for you! I don't think I've ever worked at a company before that organizes so many activities for it's employees. We have waffle wednesdays, mixers, pizza auctions with the CEO etc - in the good times it's easy to forget you're at work! You do get a lot of free make-up and sometimes get to be a tester for upcoming products, which is fun too. For the most part people are friendly and HR are really easy to talk to if you have issues. The CEO is awesome and most VPs are really approachable and friendly. Pretty relaxed environment and the dress code is too. They are great at acknowledging how they got where they are and seem to stay true to their core values.

Cons

Pay is really not that great - especially for being in San Francisco. Vacation time is even worse - to the point of why even bother. There are a lot of females (obviously), so sometimes it can be quite "catty". Any admin position, even if you are permanent, is paid hourly, which honestly is a huge pain in the butt as some people are extremely picky when it comes to clocking in and out. They don't like paying for overtime, so if you are late clocking out by 1 minute, you get a notice about not doing unauthorized overtime. The same goes for lunch penalties if you don't go for lunch within a certain timeframe. There is a huge lack of communication that exists as well as passing the blame for things. Huge deals are made out of non-existent issues which is really bad for moral. Some upper management can be extremely cold and nasty when talking to you and they have no issue doing it in front of other people. Certain departments feel they are better than other departments and that also causes bad moral.

Pros

-free make up/ gratis -cute office

Cons

“promotions” are sketchy. there are too many instances where people get a title change – but in reality, the employee is doing more work for NO salary increase. i legit can't fathom how some people are promoted - they are not transparent about these decisions. noncompetitive salary – salary is under market (compared to similar companies in bay area). with no promise for salary increase, a lot of people leave. they rather waste resources on recruiting instead of just providing a competitive salary to retain their current employees. HR takes forever to hire a replacement - especially for technical roles because the salary is bad. expect to pick up work when your co-workers leave. favoritism towards french. company is in bay area, but most leadership is white or French from other lvmh groups managers review employees, but employees cannot give reviews to mangers. some managers will get multiple complaints from employees, but you’ll never see HR doing anything about it

Pros

I can’t even list one good thing about this company.

Cons

There is no process, very disorganized and very cut-throat environment. If you’re not director or above, don’t even try to voice your concern or anything! Including HR, they don’t care about you at all. They only care who has the authority. I was told by my manager that I would start taking medication for stress if I continue to stay here & better to look for another job. He repeatedly told me to do whatever it takes to make a director happy that includes working 80hrs/week. When I told him how many hours I work, He said oh well... director is the one who brings business (basically saying I am not important!) He did absolutely nothing to support me from the day one. He told me to look for a solution & resources all by myself including who to ask questions... What a great leadership... right? If you decide to work for this company, Be ready to get thrown under the bus not once by repeatedly! You still get beaten up until you leave. Oh they force you to leave the company rather than trying to help you! It is so common to receive written warning here! I’ve never seen so many people received the warning!!! It’s insane! If I can, I give no star to this company. BELIEVE ME, you do not want to work for Benefit Cosmetics!!!
