Pros

Benefitfocus has some of the smartest people I have worked with in 20 years in the IT field.

Cons

Company does not care about the Associates well being. Recently had to take FMLA for medical issues. 1. HR didn't do anything to help when there were problems with my short term disability payments. 2. My direct manager never contacted me to find out how I was doing. 3. At the end of 12 weeks HR terminated me even though they knew I was still receiving medical care and had not been cleared to return to work.

Pros

Free Coffee, free soda, probably at least 1 free t-shirt during your time here, and you can always feel free to grab a free "culture book"!!

Cons

Upper management is currently reorganizing their last re-org, and that takes up most of their time. (Reorganizing prior reorganizations is hard work!). However, they do find some spare moments in between their reorganizing to lay off good people and hire global staffing to replace them. But then they are back again to reorganizing (and that's just plain hard on upper management!)....So they run out of time to communicate any new processes or train the giant droves of new global staff they have brought in. The only "culture" the company so highly preaches of is printed in a "culture book" and given to worn-out associates in mandatory meetings.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I’m sorry to hear that you’re not enjoying the company or culture. We have to change to continue to grow and improve. The changes underway are designed to help you and to spread the workload. It may create some great opportunities for you. Each one of us makes the culture – you have the ability to make it what you want it to be. Additionally, while we do have a global workforce, we continue to hire in the US and we value all our associates. We will always remain committed to our US-based associates. If you have any other thoughts you’d like to share, you can reach me at stephanie.feals@benefitfocus.com.
