Pros

Amazing co-workers, bring your dog to work, free fruit/veggies/coffee (does not make your culture good) work from home (when upper mgmt isn't overly concerned with butts needing to be in seats, even if your work is getting done)

Cons

Where to start...there are so many. BF has long lost the "culture". Upper mgmt is slowing removing the reasons employees suffer through stress, ridiculous and missed timelines, and terrible software & downtime day after day. Promoting unseasoned managers or team leads based merely on the fact that they eat crap politely and can be paid slave labor wages, that can't help their overworked employees because their hands are tied or there are too many esclated clients and whomever yells the loudest gets the attention and fluffy upper mgmt who just sit back and watches us flail in the deep end. To the thick layer of upper mgmt who don't actually do work. How many reorgs do you need to figure out it may not only be the process, but the leaders making the reorg decisions. New jobs and tasks + same mgmt/decision makers = no real change. These leaders don't actually know what goes into a successful employer implementation because they have either never been through one or it's been so long they forget how terrible it is when sales sells crap we can't and should not do, system downtime that should push timelines but don't becasue BF will never acknowledge that implementation has been completely set up for failure from the beginning with managers who can't problem solve, just over promise so their employees can under deliver. Layoff layoff layoffs...to replace with cheap underskilled GLOBAL employees who can't think critically without step by step instructions or check lists that take longer to complete then actually just doing the work yourself. Last year proved to be quite the success with global workers, right? Wrong...this created more customer disatisfaction, overworked employees yet again, bogged down systems which ultimately led to OE lasting until...wait we are STILL cleaning up the 2015 OE nightmare! Or the poor souls still left. BF is not using Global employees to help give care to our customers around the clock, look around many of our global assocites are on campus or working our schedules (if you think that, you need to take a step back and stop drinking the kool-aid before it's too late and you find yourself in the unemployment line with the people who actually did work at BF) global is a cost saving strategy, that is ALL! It is a disservice to our clients, our local community, and the unemployment rate in Charleston. And the push for BF to be profitable by year end will ultimatley lead to the complete and utter crumble of BF and what good employees are left to clean up the mess from the mass amount of layoffs that will happen to make sure the cushy upper mgmt looks good to the stake holders and can continute to donate millions of dollars to local charities, drive nice & expensive cars, and import employees from outside of charleston and outside of the US. The answer will not be in the massive amounts of global associates who have had little to no quality training because you have pushed out the in ome way or another all of the knowledgable ones. Should make for a very interesting 2016 OE and beyond. If that is not enough to make you RUN not walk from BF, read the many many other unsatisfied employee reviews, or better yet walk around the campus and just look at the faces of the front line employees, hear what they are saying about how crazy things have been and still are. Where is HR in the crazy mess??? They say they are willing to listen and hear our concerns, and when you get us all in a room to talk about them and promise to get us answers, then never show your face again...speaks volumes! Someone who can really make a difference needs to be reading these reviews. Shawn where are you, why are you letting these people run your company into the ground, treat your employees like slaves and then throw them away like the massive amount of blocker JIRAs from yesterday's engineering release and just sitting back...enough is enough. NO MORE COWBELL.

I appreciate your thoughts and I hope you can switch gears with us. I disagree with some of your points. Each of us at the company can make a difference every day, you included. You mention that our people are amazing, and you’re right! We care about each other and the future of our company. There are people who will listen to your constructive concerns and possible solutions, and I’m one of them. Reach out to me personally and I will share your ideas with the leadership team. To address your cons, it is important that the company is profitable, so we can continue to grow. There are changes happening around the company in Charleston and overseas, and these changes are part of the solution to some of your concerns. We have hired some experienced people to help us scale. We are growing fast and while we are committed to Charleston, we also look forward to growing our other campuses across the US. The changes happening are to make us stronger, streamline our processes, and better serve our associates and customers. I understand that change can be hard, but this is a journey not a sprint. We need you on board. If we continue to all work together, you’ll see that we’re going to be better than ever. If you would like to share more thoughts and ideas, email me at stephanie.feals@benefitfocus.com.

Pros

"Provide Anticipatory Service" - Just Kidding.... "Respect The Individual" - ....The individuals that have the power to assign more demands placed upon you. Respect them or you'll regret it. You're 60 hour work week will turn into 80. "Celebrate" - People who do little/nothing but are the point of contact for Successful Groups/Implementations... Ignore the Associates who take the beatings from Clients constantly even if their scenarios are infinitely more complex and demanding. "Together" - Everyone is as miserable as you are.

Cons

Worst Pay to Work Ratio you can imagine. They will keep you in positions you hate and HR is a total nightmare department. Your manager will have absolutely no influence upon your salary/workload and there is a huge Question mark over who answers these questions and makes decisions about the employee livelihood.

Thanks for sharing your review, although the content is disappointing – it’s especially sad that you don’t think we live our core values. I never like to hear that anyone is unhappy at our company. I can tell you that our salaries are regularly reviewed against local and national standards. We definitely want to make sure our associates know they are appreciated. Also, it sounds like some of your frustrations are about transparency and communication. Both are areas we are rapidly increasing. Thanks for the feedback. We know there is an opportunity for new avenues of communication and we’re working to ensure everyone at each of our campuses is included.

Pros

- Flexible Work Schedule - Ability to learn multiple functions of SaaS if motivated - Opportunity for Extended Career Training (GBA and CEBS Certification)

Cons

If written in 2014, I would have said that there we minimal negatives at the company; however, large scale organizational shifts over the past 8 - 10 months have resulted in a large-scale loss of experienced talent from the company across various departments. While many of the positive reviews that you see on this site are genuine, the negative experiences posted in other reviews are also very real. Employees are now faced with extremely high expectations related to client satisfaction with the product, without controlling the product quality itself. Providing clear and accurate expectations to both internal and external clients is difficult at best due to OLA's that are stated, but rarely enforced. Travel requirements for client facing positions have also greatly increased in the past eight months, making it increasingly difficult to maintain a work-life balance, especially for those with families and children. My advice to those looking at applying with the company would be to carefully study the reviews here on Glassdoor, and to also speak with anyone that you know who has spent more than one year with the company (current and former employees included). These individuals will be able to provide much needed perspective into how things have changed and where things are headed within the company. Ask the difficult questions early in your interview and press for quality responses to areas of concern in order to be sure that the position is an appropriate fit for you. Finally, understand that this is not the same company that you may have heard about two or three years ago. Corporate growth and outside investment have increased pressure to be more efficient and less frivolous with internal perks and benefits. Once you consider that information, make the best choice for you personally.

Thanks for sharing your honesty and constructive, candid thoughts. We definitely are a different company than we were a few years ago. We have to change as we grow, but we can still be an amazing place to work. The changes made recently are to support this growth so we can best serve associates and customers. I agree with you that it is important to speak with people and to ask challenging questions during the interview process. This company isn’t for everyone. Some people don’t want to work in an open environment or may not want to celebrate or ring cowbells, but that is who we are. As you mention, we work very hard and the work is challenging (but also rewarding - millions of people use our software). This is a very rewarding place that can offer great career growth, but everyone must make his or her own decisions about how and where to grow. I’m not sure when you left the company, but Shawn continues to be dedicated to our culture. He met with the majority of our associates in small groups this summer and everyone shared really awesome stories and connected as people. It was really cool that our CEO took that time to connect with everyone and that our associates were able to take a break to share stories with Shawn. I wish you were here to be part of it! As for your personal request to me, please know that I read every one of these reviews, and think about each of them. I share the feedback in everyone one of these reviews with leaders in the company. They listen and they incorporate the ideas into their plans to make things better as we grow. I want the best for everyone and want everyone working on our campuses (or remotely) to be happy about coming to work everyday. If you have any further thoughts, you’re welcome to email me at stephanie.feals@benefitfocus.com.
