Pros

Health benefits are good PTO accrual is good (20 days per year) Retirement as well as good matching 401K It is possible to move around within the company and gain exposure to various departments

Cons

In EDH, a lot of the managers have been around forever and many have came out of the customer service/claims ranks, or have never worked anywhere else. The systems are also extremely antiquated. Professionals are often treated like hourly employees, and depending on who your manager is, you may/may not have flexibility. Generally, managers who have come from outside the company will be more open-minded, flexible and encourage out of the box thinking, but the good ones always seem to leave after awhile. It's a place where, if you're not in the right department, or working for the right person, you can become discouraged and/or stagnant pretty quick. You're not going to be using or learning the latest or greatest tools/technology.

Pros

-good benefits, good work-life balance, nice facility, many co-workers are decent and reasonable people, work is often meaningful, good location, good opportunies to learn

Cons

-Employee morale is plummeting due to senior management trying to get leaner and meaner at expense of employees. -True leadership is seriously lacking. Managers blow smoke upward, celebrate heroes who put out fires (instead of those who prevent them), and employees try to keep their heads down in fear. -Used to be a respectful workplace, but no longer. Younger, newer, ambitious suck-ups are now those getting promoted. Those with more tenure and knowledge often work very hard, but are not properly recognized or rewarded. Their reward is more work. Conversely, if you suck up properly, you don't really need to know what you are doing, or even do it. -Lots and lots of silos. -IT is immature and ignorant. Old technology, mediocre skills among staff, poor leadership and low morale. -Did I mention that employees are not valued or treated with respect?

Pros

Promotes healthy work/life balance Salary is fair Most tools needed to do the job are available People are very helpful in general.

Cons

IT in particular is very immature compared to other industries. Politics rule. If you don't know the right people, you can't get things done. All work is project based. There is no methodology for implementing and maintaining infrastructure basics such as security. Management is top down only. No contributions requested or allowed by employees. Management does not share information with employees.
