Pros

The work is wonderful for those who enjoy figuring out customer problems. Sometimes a customer's livelihood is on the line and when they call in looking for help you have the ability to figure out some pretty intricate problems, there is great learning potential here and profound gratitude on the part of the customer if your able and allowed to help them out. Other times customers have no idea what they're talking about and all you can do is laugh or cry after telling them that no, VPS hosting does not support Weebly and that they can copy that password you just gave them by pressing Ctrl+C.

Cons

They keep outsourcing their support in India. My graveyard shift had calls that would wait 40 min in queue for an hour or two on week nights, yet we did not qualify as 'understaffed'. In the 5 months I worked there the prices for 5 or 6 services doubled, with no change in the quality (and an ever decreasing quality in customer support). They told me in the interview that this was not a sales job, but I Was expected to at least recommend a product on half of my calls.

Pros

High pressure atmosphere where you will learn a lot in a very small amount of time. If you can stick it out, a few years will look great on a resume. A great entry level 'stepping stone' IT position.

Cons

Sales motivated technical support. As technical support (web advisor), they force you to 'helpfully' recommend products and put a great deal of passive aggressive weight on making sales. A lot of the products are broken in ways that make you feel like you are scamming the customer. There aren't enough products that will actually help the customer so you'll end up cheating yourself an honest day's pay all of the time to get ahead. If you want to see for yourself how desperate it really is, open a live chat with technical support. Coaches are not technically trained so don't expect to be able to go to a coach for technical advice.
