It's OK but that's all

Pros

I like our CEO but I think the other execs are mainly looking out for themselves.

Cons

Hard work and results are not rewarded. . Some departments are really good and team oriented but some are full of back-biting and office politics. Remote work, even when proven successful for certain departments, is frowned upon and is going away.

Pros

Boart Longyear is great with work/life balance. The flexible work times really helps when it comes to working and taking care of your families and being able to work some days in the office and some days at home for those of us who can.

Cons

The biggest downside of Boart Longyear is they don't give sufficient merit increases. They give you 2-3% yearly, but when we have been having very profitable years, the employees don't see anything financially. I am sure the executive staff gets their bonuses, but the employees still get 2-3% a year which is truly a slap in the face. The success should be shared with all employees, maybe then, there won't be such a high turnover. Very few of us still here after enduring the bad years and the good years.

Pros

Very IT focused company. Invest in employees. Many employees are awesome individuals. Agile leader/director is great. New buildings and work environment/comforts are great. Hiring process is quick.

Cons

Political. Lots of technical debt. Lack of IT leadership and IT strategy for the long haul. Lots of money being spent to fix bad IT decisions and eliminate IT technical debt. Pay for many positions is on the lower end of the pay scale for a booming job market... to get a decent pay raise leave the company. Unlimited PTO really does work out as one may think.
