Pros

Some, and I mean only SOME, of the people here are great. I'm struggling to think of anything else.

Cons

The benefits are paltry, the company is totally backwards in relation to current technology standards, no training or mentoring (which is hilarious since the main product is supposed to make training simple and easy...). It wasn't the worst place I've ever worked but you could smell the blood in the water (yes, this is a shark joke..).

Pros

There are a number of good people that pour their hearts into their jobs and believe the company will eventually pull itself out of the hole it is in. They are awesome and the one good thing about Brainshark. I miss them.

Cons

The product is badly broken and the CTO is at fault. One customer called the product a shiny plane with folding chairs inside. The culture is badly broken and the CSO is at fault. Many existing and previous employees have been brought to tears from her cruel comments. Letting both of those leaders continue is the CEOs fault. Letting all three continue is the fault of the Board of Directors.

As the CSO at Brainshark, I and the leadership team take all reviews here seriously. Obviously, we were disappointed to read this review and learn you feel this way. We pride ourselves on running a high-achieving and accountable organization; our record growth and recent success bear this out. We work hard to foster a sales environment of coaching and developing our team members to be the best they can possibly be, and the ones who thrive the most are open to this type of environment. As part of my role (and any leader’s role), tough decisions have to be made and not everyone is always going to agree. However, our culture fosters an open-door policy, and we wish the feelings expressed here had been directly addressed with leadership, rather than as an anonymous review. (In fact, we are still open to that, as we value feedback from all employees – including former ones). We wish you nothing but the best success in the future.

Pros

Good people and nice culture. Third Thursday events are fun and there’s always a nice summer outing planned.

Cons

What a heartbreak Brainshark turned into. The best talent walks out the door and along with it goes the fresh ideas and new ways of thinking. The product isn’t evolving fast enough and has become unstable. The sales organization has some really great talent, but just when the team started making momentum in all the right areas, they hired a bully of a CSO. The executive team claims to be transparent but they focus on politics and playing games. The CEO let’s the CSO dominate him. Sales managers go to Presidents club because they’re friends with the CSO, even though their team didn’t hit their number. It’s unbelievably unprofessional at the executive level - during sales kickoff, they’re too hung over to join the rest of the sales team, so they sit out in the lobby laughing at stories of their escapades the night before. Oh yeah, don’t report anything to HR as the director will immediately run and tell everything to the CEO and her best friend the CSO. Toxic environment. Nice to have product. Sinking ship.
