Pros

Really friendly team across the whole company. Very tough selection process, but if you get through, very rewarding company to work for. Good benefits and work atmosphere. Excellent training opportunities

Cons

Location of Ellon may not be ideal for everyone, although I was happy to re-locate

Hey, thanks for giving us your feedback. It’s great to hear you are enjoying being part of the BrewDog Crew! You’re right that Ellon is a small town, it certainly feels like home to us though and hopefully it will for you too. Cheers!

Not what I’d hoped it would be

Pros

A really interesting place to work, there is a lot happening and plenty of opportunities to learn a lot. I certainly learned a lot in my time there. I also worked with a genuinely great bunch of people. They made going to work at BrewDog bearable.

Cons

Work life balance is poor. I had none. Long hours are expected. The pressure is unrelenting. Staff morale, at least in the department I was in, is very low, and management are either oblivious or simply don’t care. I have never worked anywhere where I have seen so many people scared for their job. We were often told it was a privilege to work at BrewDog and so should be expected to make some sacrifices to do so. There were so many people who wanted to work there and because of this were taken advantage of. Communication from management is dreadful. Knowledge is power and so often withheld. Leadership comes from one man, and one man alone. And he doesn’t do a great job of it. There are rules for management and then different rules for everyone else. Do as I say and not as I do. Sick pay policy is dreadful.

Hey, thanks for your feedback. Don’t get us wrong – we know that we have incredibly high expectations as a business. It is, quite frankly, the reason that we’ve been as successful as we are, and we see it as the key to our continued success, so it’s not going to change. However we do think that in recent years in particular we have done a lot of work to put in place more support mechanisms to help people cope with the pressure, including encouraging people to work flexibly to allow them to control their own environment and productivity, and improving our sick pay provisions over the last year. We will continue to over-invest in communication, with quarterly business planning and objective setting for our senior managers, and monthly director Q&A sessions for the whole team in 2019. We hope that we can keep improving on the areas that you have flagged and make sure that people continue to learn and grow in their roles at BrewDog.
