Chaos From the Top Down

Pros

There are definitely talented and hardworking people across the organization, and the office environment has fostered a strong sense of connection among employees. A lot of those relationships seem to have formed through navigating the toxic unpredictability of the company together. Compensation incentives, including bonuses, have been nice, and the period of rapid growth last year created a genuinely energizing atmosphere. The company’s mission and customer impact also contributed to a sense of purpose and motivation for many employees. Additionally, the investment in office spaces and in-person collaboration was nice.

Cons

The organization has experienced repeated restructuring over a relatively short period, including multiple rounds of layoffs and significant employee turnover. The pace of departures across teams has created MAJOR concerns about long-term stability and leadership direction. There also appears to be a noticeable lack of diversity across the company, particularly in female representation. From a market perspective, the company’s competitive advantage seems less differentiated than it once was. Innovation has slowed, and many competitors are close or already offering similar function, making it harder to see a strong forward-looking vision for the business.

Supportive leadership in a fast-growing environment

Pros

Leadership makes it clear every day that they are invested in your personal success as well as the company's. Innovative thinking is encouraged and you'll never feel like "just another number". Instead, taking ownership in your role is rewarded and built upon consistently

Cons

Not really a true Con, but the company is consistently growing fast. BuildOps does a fantastic job staying on top of this growth, but if you aren't the type to be able to take on new challenges that come naturally from growth you may find yourself overwhelmed. BuildOps is built for those looking to drive positive change on a massive scale.

High turnover and inconsistent leadership

Pros

Good collaboration among coworkers,l and a sense of teamwork at the team level that helps people get through day-to-day work.

Cons

High turnover across multiple levels, including leadership, creates ongoing instability. There have been workforce reductions that felt unclear in how they were communicated. Customer support teams in particular seem heavily impacted, with frequent churn and staffing changes that make it difficult to maintain consistency. Managers at the team level often appear under-supported, especially for longer-tenured employees.
