The leadership team is far removed from the realities of the community. This organization is diverse, but not inclusive - unless you are a white woman. If you want to sharpen your experience in professional politics, this is the place for you. CARE is slowly falling apart as the gap between practitioners and C-suite leadership widens. It is all about quantity over quality, volume over direct impact, marketing over actual program delivery. Bullies are celebrated and people and culture are bought out by these high-ranked leaders, which enables a consistently toxic work environment. Beware! Don't be surprised if your good intentions to make an impact gets drowned and swallowed up by the messiness in this organization going in the wrong direction.

For as much as they talk about loving to promote from within, they are terrible at walking that walk (unless you’re a favorite of the team lead). There’s little to no option for personal professional development. Managers and supervisors are given literally no guidance on how to be good leaders, so forget about ever hearing anything positive about your work, but be sure to gird your loins should you do even the tiniest thing to make your manager look the slightest bit bad. Absolutely no clear line of authority means everyone sits around talking about ideas forever, but aren’t able to make moves until literally every other person in the organization has weighed in. Questionable allocation of funding means big money is spent to impress donors and expensive contractors are hired left and right, while layoffs are pending and lower level employees are paid like interns.
