If you are desperate for work and need something to help pay the bills while you look for some other place to work then cobalt is perfect!

Cons

Poor Management, Poor Pay, No Career Path, and No Vision. Your benefits are below par for most companies. Recruiters will lie to you about bonus structures, advancement opportunities, etc. Management loves to take an idea that you come up with, sell it to upper management and take full credit for it even with you in the conference room with them.

Pros

You can have good balance between work and family life. Managers are very good on personal level. They pursue the technology in their field very strongly. Now their engineering department at redwood city has got various departments in order to communicate well so its a good initiative that changes are happening. They honor various cultures and in fact one time we had Indian cultural show their which was very succesful event.

Cons

no career path. it was great when it was startup but now its like any other big company. Rather than having better communication betwen groups and making things work, lots of blame game is played.

Pros

The opportunity for a flexible work schedule and the chance to meet interesting people. Cobalt will train you and help you acquire a few new skills. A variety of backgrounds can obtain entry level positions and job stability is solid at this company (at least for now). If you have an interest to jump into the internet industry, this is a good place to start because it is a relatively low pressure envirnoment. The company believes in working hard, but also playing hard. You can count on a few fun company outings per year along with descent company benefit packages.

Cons

Stagnent work envirnoment with little accountability. Cobalt's pay scale is quite poor and there is little opportunity for advancement. The best days at Cobalt are fairly enjoyable, but those tend to be few and far between given the internal organization of the company. The very best employees often don't receive recognition and the worst employees are not held accountable. It is nearly impossible to get fired, which means that most employees will put in the minimal effort and those that do excel are often not compensated appropriately, building frustration and a lack of loyalty. The company needs to focus on employee retention, development and people management to build an equitable work envirnoment rather than a complacent one.
