Pros

I've worked for a number of companies doing writing. I like writing for this one the best because I get to work on several different topics for totally different clients. I have been working here for years and have always been paid promptly and my interactions with the team have been pretty stellar.

Cons

I do wish that there was more flexibility on some of the deadlines. Sometimes I turn down assignments because they have very short deadlines and I can't get to them because I have to take care of my mom.

Pros

- You'll work with some of the smartest (and nicest) people in the industry. - Jordan, the COO, is a fantastic leader. If you're lucky to work with him, you'll learn a lot. - GREAT benefits, including profit sharing. Literally, you're enrolled in profit sharing the month you start and can earn extra in your paycheck based on your KPIs. - Constructive feedback given often regarding performance. This is a big pro for me, but obviously this can be preferential. - The company is very profitable and growing quickly. Many promotion opportunities are given to those that work hard.

Cons

I will preface this by saying that I worked at Coalition for only two months. My decision to leave was influenced by a few reasons: one personal and the other professional. I moved to Austin (they are starting an office in the BigCommerce offices) for this position, but under the impression that the office was a bit more established. It turned out that we were working on one of the BigCommerce floors in a conference room (me and two others). I had zero issues with the people I worked with and we were encouraged to socialize with BigCommerce, but the majority of the people you work with, including team leads, either work in the L.A. office or work remotely all over the country. It was difficult to socialize with the BigCommerce employees because we were somewhat separate from them and also had a lot of work to do. I'm used to working in a more collaborative, person-to-person environment, so a lot of the reason was preference. I think that if you're used to working remotely and are established in the place you live then it's a great company to work for because it's extremely profitable, great benefits (including profit share), and everyone you speak with is extremely helpful, and super savvy on the industry. Unfortunately, I was not one of those people, which is why I found a different opportunity in Austin. Additional: - Person to person training should be given. The online training, while helpful in terms of being able to find processes, can only do so much. I'm a hands-on learner and I think I would have benefitted from working with someone versus just studying the material. - Processes could use some improvement. Often tasks or quotes were delayed and constant messaging or pinging remote team members was a big sore spot. - Get rid of Time Doctor. I spent more time relaunching it than tracking my time because it crashed on me 5-10 times a day and it slowed up my computer. Trust that your employees are doing the work they say their doing. From what I could tell, everyone I worked with was on top of their work. There was just so much of it, which is why some things were probably delayed/late and why they're hiring a lot.

Pros

I have worked at Coalition longer than anyone else (outside of its founder and CEO). From that standpoint, I can say there are a number of specific pros to working at CT- 1. Very little, if any, tolerance for politics or backbiting. People show up to do work, and have to be able to work well together or they're gone. 2. Very clear objectives for each person and each team. No ambiguity as to what's expected of you, or what standard you're being measured by. The KPI system makes how well you're performing very clear. 3. Very client focused. There isn't any juggling about who we're trying to make successful. The company clearly believes that if our services help a client succeed, we're succeeding. This shows through in our company structure- one of the smallest teams is the 'sales' team and the largest teams are production and project management. 4. Great global team. I hate that some of the ignorant, xenophobic reviewers here have attacked this aspect of the company. We have a fantastic team of remote, global personnel. They work harder than our US team, voluntarily, pass rigorous skills tests, and are paid well over their regions market rates. Some are paid comparably to their US counterparts. 5. Great growth. The company has grown year over year over year over year (and so on), without outside funding, dramatic changes in approach, etc.

Cons

1. Agency life is hard- there is always lots of work to do and since we're always growing, there is always a challenge in finding a balanced pace of work. 2. KPIs can be unforgiving. Being measured objectively cuts both ways. If you don't like frank, accurate reviews of your performance, this may not be the place for you. 3. Remote team members can get isolated. While CT puts a lot of effort into the global team and culture, its easy to be isolated or feel disconnected from the company culture.
