It could be worse but it should be much much better.

Pros

The biggest pro is that its a job (I know a several people who don't have one). They pay livable wages and offer health and life insurance. The actual work isn't that hard most of the time. The management has improved after some retirements.

Cons

The pecking order has been set for a very long time and it never changes. Regardless of how well I do my job, I'm never going to get promoted because I'm not one of the "chosen" ones. There's not much respect and it wears you down. You can't trust management.

Can work remote which saves two hours per day commute time.

Cons

benefits have been looted in the past five years. management does not value or respect employees, not just IT, company wide. this company is a perverted manifestation of what traditional blue cross blue shield organization were founded to represent.
