Pros

* Top quartile salary and top bous to draw high potential employees into the company * Not much level of middle management

Cons

* Their way or the high way - supervisor does not listen to suggestion or feedback * Minimum interaction between mgmt and employee * No clear expectation on job, yet will slap you with a poor PMP without knowing what goals were supposedly to be achieved * There are people with company +15 yrs, people with company less than 2 yrs, and very few in between - significant experienced hires left in two years.

Good company, but not for everyone

Pros

Celanese is a tough culture but it rewards those willing to put the time and effort in. The company wants to be the best in everything it does, and you can't help but be inspired by that. Senior leadership is very strong and they measure everything so you understand how you're doing against the competition. It's a global company and you'll learn a lot about doing business in other cultures. They compensate very well for top performers.

Cons

It's not for everyone. Work-life balance is something they admit they don't pay much attention to. You need a thick skin to work there (or you'll develop one quickly). It's essentially an up-or-out place. The top performers get promoted and well-compensated. The lower performers (who might still be valuable in the right circumstances) usually are let go.

Pros

Company has done an excellent job of hiring and retaining smart, qualified individuals. They work together as a team (very true for IT staff). Strive to be in markets where they are number one or number two in their industries. Not afraid to make changes for improvement.

Cons

2009 was a difficult year for the company. Many people were let go and business sites were selected for closure. Not an indictment on Celanese but more on the major industries they serve (automotive and housing).
