Pros

Middle management did listen to issues

Cons

Corporate office is a cancerous toxic place that ruined the hat could have been a good job. Originally I was very happy at central but the ceo passed it to his son who turned around and hired a sleazy executive and that immediately came in and ruining the amazing culture. He brought along friends from his old company and created new positions for them all while capping pay raises at 2-3%. I went from working 40 hours a week to 60 as well as eventually being told I had to work weekends. We were constantly told about how much money the company was making but pay raises and bonuses stayed low. At least other cancerous insurance carriers pay better

Pros

Nothing. We had to pay for a k-cup of coffee

Cons

Supervisors spend more time walking and talking than training their employees. Specifically, if you ask for help in regards to a claim file you are handling you receive some warped version of Socratic method of teaching while meanwhile claims expenses are going up and customers are getting upset. The auto material damage- Georgia supervisor is a do nothing but answer the final phone before policy cancellation and tell the customer everything he told the adjuster to not do type of guy. Literally, he has to do monthly ‘audits’ but can’t even comprehend a V lookup or pivot table on an excel file to establish a basis of auditing an employees 24 hour contact on voicemails and emails, or 2 hour contact on claim file assignments. That very sad thing is, because this supervisor, like other long time employees at this company, will never be fired because their financial investment back into the company is via SPP is worth more to Central than quality of work. It’s a cult, and a joke if referencing leadership when it comes to management. I am the manager at an international company now, that has existed long before Central Mutual. If I ever managed people the way that I was managed while an employee at this company I’d feel disgusted. I made my way up by hard work and sweat as an example to my coworkers, not talking and doing nothing besides the bare minimum. Shape up Central Mutual, I did.

Pros

Pension and 401k. That's it.

Cons

Consistently understaffed, though they promise they're going to get new people in to help. Never happens or they can only manage to find one every 6-12 months. Management refuses to listen to any criticism or suggestions. Forced to work overtime without being compensated for it just to keep up with volume. Pay is mediocre compared with the amount of work required. Little to no room for advancement unless willing to relocate. Even then they favor people from the home office over the regions.
