Pros

-Good Stepping stone for an individual to get into this field in technology and network security -Good Benefits: Medical, Dental, 401k matching up to 5%, Free Lunch up to $8.50 -Easy to take time off which is great for work/life balance

Cons

-No structure within the department and no guidance by upper management -Upper Management plays huge politics and favoritism -When you're hired for the job, they talk about commission and how you can get bonuses yet there is no commission plan until months after you start your role. The problem with this situation is that representatives do not even know what their target goals are which can cause anxiety and stress on all levels. -Headquarters for commissions analysts are in Israel so whenever you have a question about commission, it takes days, sometimes even weeks to get 1 reply. They are always questioning good leads and deals that come from Inside Sales because they do not believe they generated it. They are so fast to question a great sale this department can have yet so slow in responding when they actually have to pay out commission -Employee feedback and concerns are not addressed -There is a lack of training and tools for New Hires to do their job successfully

Pros

The entire company is driven to its success (i.e. close to 0 politics, etc.). Company is still managed by its founder so it's highly focused and didn't lost its original vision. Products are customer oriented with good chances to actually succeed. The company is an amazing management school, for how to run an efficient company.

Cons

This focus may come at the price of not researching enough. Upper management focus can sometimes undermine mid management.

Flexible. nice people. good location. free lunch daily.

Cons

Upper management is distrusting. Marketing team never allowed to do their jobs well. Micro-managed to the core. High frustration amongst employees. Constant road-blocks from upper management. No essence of company culture in San Carlos headquarters.

Check Point is a tired old man slowly fading into death.

Pros

The company is very stable and that has a lot to do with how they manage their finances. Check Point has a lot of cash and maintains healthy product margins. Work life balance is good, but it depends on your territory. Check Point can makes really great security technologies. (See below why this isn't enough). You can have a decent and stable career at Check Point, but if you want to innovate and grow this is probably not the place for you.

Cons

Almost all decisions are made by Gil Schwed and to a lesser extent, Amnon Bar-Lev. To illustrate this point, Gil personally approves all new hires. As a result, managers have little to no autonomy to innovate and actually grow their business. Upper management also seems to have little patience and a short attention span. Attempts to fix missed sales goals are never successful. This is because they either abandoned their plans because move on to the next gimmick or they are impatient and don't give things enough time to succeed. As I said above, Check Point can create great technology, but they suck at packaging and selling it. The technology is good, but the actual products suck. They miss basic features that all other competitors have. They keep trying to lock customers into the Check Point eco system. CheckPoint will create something great like SandBlast (bad name BTW) and package it in a way that it only really works for existing customers. That's not a way to grow our business. Central management is great, but the reality is that customers don't want to put all of their eggs in one vendor's basket. Final statement on Check Point. Overall, everything is just more difficult with Check Point. Whether you're a customer or employee, everything is unnecessarily difficult. Licensing--huge pain. Tech Support and troubleshooting--pain. Internal sales and quoting tools--huge pain.

Pros

- Great culture, not micromanaged, or being babysat by upper management unless you are not doing your job. - Amazing work/life balance. The best I have been a part of in my experience. - The ability to see how things work internally, and feel comfortable enough to suggest new ideas or an approach to better things. - Management does listen, beyond that is /dev/null.

Cons

- Training for the various products is severely lacking. The expectation to know all products offered without proper training is difficult. - Management of accounts and tech support can be lackluster, it's a "who you know" game in order to get proper escalation and support most times. - Yearly targets are solely based your numbers, not the scope of reality of the accounts. So, if you have a REALLY good year you have to meet, or exceed that number. - Career opportunities internally are lacking, more opportunities are presented from customers. - Change is S-L-O-W.
