It’s been a few years since I’ve worked at Checkr but my experience was nothing but positive. Management truly cares about you, you aren’t just another hire and they go to great lengths to ensure you are happy and getting what you need to thrive while working there. They also look to hire in house when positions are available making the prospect of promotion high. They provide a fully stocked kitchen, games and activities to do when your aren’t working, happy hour every Friday, and even vacation trips to places like Costa Rica.

After working for San Francisco start-ups for 8 years, I can say with confidence Checkr's onboarding process is the best best and most comprehensive I've experienced in the Bay Area and this team is relatively small. What do I mean by best and most comprehensive? Well to start, the onboarding is roughly a week long. You meet people from all corners of the company and get a high-level view of their day-to-day. It helps you not only meet people from other areas of the company but gives you insight on what they do and their functioning role within the company. Checkr values culture, a lot. The interview process, while heavily leaning into skillsets and responsibilities also included a balance of culture questions that I felt were well-balanced and lended to honest answers without judgement. I made friends instantly here at Checkr. Which, sad to say I haven't been able to do at most start-ups, at least this quickly. People here are warm, genuine, and come from a place of caring. This rolls up to a lot what I mentioned above about valuing company culture. People here love to hang out with one another and socialize. We're not a "family" ... we're "friends". There's no sense of forced culture here because somehow they've managed to hire people who are great culture fits (most of the time) and we just click. Which I think is truly fantastic and rare in the landscape of SF start-ups. People are supportive in their roles and have a positive can-do outlook. So far I have not felt as if there is any amount of micromanagement or blockers. They demand excellence in your work but create clear pathways not hurdles for you to achieve that. Checkr also has a mission for helping employers not only better understand how to be compliant in their hiring practices when it comes to background checks but also educate them on how to eliminate bias and encourage fair chance hiring. Which I am a strong advocate of. Diversity and inclusion is taking very seriously and Checkr is fully transparent around our progress in achieving those goals. We are also a fair chance hiring company, which ...I love. Knowing that we walk the talk further solidifies my love for this company.
