Pros

Perks and benefits are solid. Free lunch, work from home. Vacation is unlimited and encouraged to bu used. Educational perks are legit.

Cons

CEO is unqualified and completely dishonest. He spent years mandating everyone must be in the office until Covid hit. Once he realized they could save money by paying people less in other markets he reluctantly gave in. The CFO is the biggest cancer in the company. He embodies narcissism and selfishness. The people in his department tolerate him because they are overpaid to do so and in many cases it isn't enough to stop the turnover from his toxicity. The 2023 version of recruiting is unrecognizable. They fired the CPO and she left a dishonest pretender in her place. I've never seen an executive lie to their team more and still have a job. Overall, the company revenue is based on employers hiring. In this economy, Checkr will struggle and as a result there will be no growth and even less opportunities for years to come.

Pros

Nice co-workers who really care

Cons

Oh where do I begin? Here’s a good list: No 401k match Micro managing everyone Constantly adding tasks to your job description without any pay bumps Promotions capped for each department Yearly increases are sad Return to office for people close to offices while people who are remote get to stay remote New HR leader came in and is destroying the culture. Things were laid back before now everyone’s performance is being scrutinized like we’re little children. Metrics for everything even though people are working hard and doing their jobs well. C staff and CEO are preaching high performance work while pay is not competitive. Confusing work standards are so annoying and you feel like you can never fully understand what they want. This place is going downhill fast - don’t even think of applying here. Your mental health is too valuable to take the stress that this place causes.

Pros

Great health benefits and remote work is nice

Cons

Toxic culture. Managers constantly making decisions without input from employees actually doing the work. Payroll and AP departments consistently allowed to shrug off responsibilities and accounting ends up bearing the brunt of it all. Everyone seems miserable. Any counter opinions or questions by employees are dismissed by managers. Leadership constantly encourages process improvement but refuses to take any input from employees actually doing the work. Managers are extremely inexperienced and don’t understand what it means to support employees (hint: it doesn’t mean insincerely telling them to let you know if they need help with anything). Managers gradually replacing employees with outsourced staff from India and 1) won’t be “transparent” about it and 2) don’t realize how much harder it makes the employees jobs. I could go on and on…. It’s a dumpster fire in FinOps.
