Pros

I had a chance to try some things I thought would interest me and hoped I would get a chance to grow. Glad I had the chance to try it.

Cons

Managers in corporate office treat employees like lower class. Executives treat everyone like they are beneath them.

Pros

Great system and corporation to work for with decent benefits. Managers can be helpful and on page and food preparation is on point.

Cons

Way too many expectations that can be miss communicated and only expected of new hires. Too much trust placed in server trainers with 4 months of total experience compared to servers with 8 times that. So corporate it’s to the point of no exceptions for simple rules that can result in termination and no managerial decisions are made without some Darden interference which limits all leadership opportunities.

Server--The Least of it is Waiting on Tables.

Pros

Always busy if not outright swamped. Food is good and portions are large.

Cons

You only have 2 tables in your section so you depend on getting your tables turned. If a table does not leave you are losing tip money. Two table sections are for fine dining--Cheddars is basically a Denny's with a cuter outfit. The cleaning, keeping the dishes and sides stocked for the expo line, side work and food running is constant, brutal and unrelenting to the point where actually waiting on your tables becomes an afterthought. Management is young. Most of the staff is young. Most days I feel like I am working at a middle school with all the childish antics and drama. Food is cheap = cheap guests = cheap bills = low tips, mostly in the 10% to 15% on average.
