Pros

Flexible schedule, autonomy, Monday-Friday was nice.

Cons

Serious lack of organization, lack of accountability, archaic internal systems, sales and service are supposed to “work together” but doesn’t work that way. Training is almost nonexistent and expectations are high, which is part of the reason they have such high turnover. This happened to myself as well, but I have seen leadership lie to new hires about the sales roles and seriously over promising results. I took a $15k pay cut moving to this company and constantly told I was doing a great job, when they told me I would easily make $15k more; to me a $30k swing the other way is very misleading to just get someone to join the team. During the pandemic directors stated we could not bring back furloughed people because we couldn’t financially handle it. Meanwhile production and service teams struggle due to understaffing, and not 3 weeks later the same directors announce they had the best financial quarter ever! Not to mention zero pay raises because of COVID but leadership still got their bonuses. Great tactics

Pros

-Great people who genuinely want you to succeed -Streamlined on boarding/training process -Car package/ great benefits -Great place to start a career in sales

Cons

-Outdated approaches to sales strategy and dress code. Fully invested in door knocking and expected to dress business professional. -Crowded territory with a focus on outside sales. Up to 4 cintas reps all fighting for same pieces of business. Little to no quality leads to work with. -Incredibly slow to adjust a very static rental model. Just because someone isn’t a fit for a multi year agreement, doesn’t mean the business should be left off the table. -Micromanagement for the sake of micromanaging. Expected to dedicate one day a week to cold calling and recap every hour on progress of making min appointments for the week. Too many check the box tasks that eat into effective selling time. -Over complicated paperwork and policy standards for new accounts. Having an account enrolled in basic items could take someone up to 30-45 mins to process.

Pros

The benefits are awesome! Amazing health insurance and 401K. The salary is decent. It is on the low end for outside sales though, so this would be a good job right out of college. They give you a car allowance, pay your gas and cell phone allowance. The team culture is great! Paid time off is generous. You start with 3 weeks PTO. In sales, you can generally take off any day you request which is nice.

Cons

All they care about are numbers. Your goals start to go up very quickly and when you’re fully tenured it’s very hard to hit your numbers. Then they are quick to put you on a performance plan. It’s like they want to get rid of you just to hire someone new. They don’t do a good job investing in current employees who are already trained. Your training depends on if you have a good manager. The first manager knew nothing about the division and the second one did. Starting out I needed help and some senior team members were very knowledgeable but then would complain to the manager that I was asking them questions! Then I was told to ask my manager who then had to ask the senior team members for help anyways! The second manger was very knowledgeable, but would micromanage us like crazy and didn’t care about the team and was very selfish. We all quickly learned he only cared about himself and looking good to our director. Thousands of employees were laid off in April. They decided to keep someone brand new on the team! And instead got rid of three fully trained employees. Makes no sense at all! Then they said if you saw the position posted you could apply again. Not sure why they didn’t just furlough vs lay off employees. Definitely disappointed in cintas and how they handled the pandemic. They pay your car insurance which means they control your every move! If you get any sort of a ticket it’s a write up. They want you to always park your car in reverse when in a parking spot. They don’t even allow you to go on your own car insurance if you want to. Overall, this was a very stressful job. And who likes working for a company that doesn’t care about their employees and only the bottom line. You can make decent money with commissions but it’s not even worth it at the end of the day. Also, VERY high turnover 7 people were gone in less than 2 years.
