High Stress, Lies About Hybrid Work, Low Pay, Bad Benefits

Pros

There are lots of opportunities to move up and lots of chances for career growth but the easiest way to do that is go to Fidelity or Santander and then come back because you probably won't see a pay increase unless you do.

Cons

They just rolled back their hybrid model from 3 days in office to 4 days in office because "we value face to face" and "at least we're not JP Morgan or Bank of America, right?" Don't worry, though, all the executives who made that decision will still be using Zoom to dial into meetings because it doesn't apply to them. Every employee survey reveals the same thing: everyone is stressed, the pay is bad, the benefits are bad, the IT infrastructure is bad. They make lots of sad faces and don't change anything. And that's the people who bother to take the surveys, many people don't because they've gotten used to the "sad face, don't change anything" routine.

Pros

There are many hardworking, mission-driven employees at Citizens, and some executives genuinely value their teams. Benefits are decent, and the company presents itself well externally.

Cons

If you’re an administrative professional — especially a woman — be prepared to be overlooked, underpaid, and treated as expendable. Support staff are expected to operate at executive levels: managing C-suite calendars, resolving interdepartmental dysfunction, coordinating across time zones, and shielding leadership from chaos — with none of that reflected in title, compensation, or growth opportunity. Advancement for long-tenured, high-performing female admins is blocked by arbitrary degree requirements — even when supporting executives who themselves built their careers without degrees. Meanwhile, male administrative staff are often given elevated non-admin titles and significantly higher compensation for equivalent or lesser work. The message becomes clear during every pay and performance cycle: optics and politics matter more than actual output. Temporary employees earn higher hourly rates than full-time senior admins at Citizens.

Pros

Holiday pay, time off policy, annual performance reviews, HR

Cons

Very short staffed, will be asked to go to nearby branches that need help, everyone leaves for a higher position most times at a different company, bonus structure constantly changed in a way to benefit the company, high expectations, do not let you know you will be expected to call people every day off a list, micromanaging at its best, be careful for some managers that will try to get you fired once they don’t like you,
