A fractured organisation

Pros

The purpose of the organisation The professionalism, passion and commitment of many employees. Strong sales team, people who are passionate about serving their customers.

Cons

Bullying and blame culture at every level of the organisation. The business functions blames IT and IT blames the business. Its the whole business model and its sustainability that's the problem. Disparity in workload, some doing very little and others doing too much. Lack of professionalism in many holding Director level positions, primarily those that have been at the organisation for most of their careers.

Pros

City and Guilds come across as a progressive company and have potential to live up to their name.

Cons

In reality the management do not live up to the company reputation, run a cliquey show and make it difficult for anyone not in the club to put forward ideas or progress their role or their career. I felt held back because of incredible favouritism with certain colleagues. The communication from senior managers is ridiculous, they would rather email you late at night than speak to you and will use personal email addresses when they want to send something that might be a concern of HR, which by the way is just a show department for this group as issues are swept under the very threadbare carpet.

Hierarchical, politics, favouritism

Pros

Lovely smaller teams not sucked in to politics. Good work life balance in my team but I know that isn’t the same everywhere. Hybrid working is being encouraged for long term.

Cons

Really hierarchical. Not following proper recruitment processes to bring in senior consultants. CEO and Exec preach work life balance but most send emails late night and work when on leave. Not good at walking the talk!
