Pros

Free soda's will keep your energy up so you can keep working for low pay while watching slimy sales people earn plasma tvs as commission.

Cons

Everything is done as low cost as possible. Server hardware is completely outdated and employees trying to run it will have to "make do". Building facilities are a joke.

Pros

-No experience necessary for hire which gives you a chance to build your resume if you have no experience; for example, this is a great resume building opp for a career change to sales and/or a college graduate -Commodity product is easy to sell -401(k) matching and otherwise good benefits for a sales organization

Cons

-Because no experience is required, often times, you are working alongside colleagues that lack education or ambition -Frequent changing of "rules" once you get to learn them and then have harsh consequences for not promptly learning/adapting to new changes. (i.e. harsh consequences like getting fired) -There is no room for growth once you've hit all your targets/goals, only a slight salary bump every 6 months that is a "retention bonus": however, this lasts for only 18 months. There is no opportunity for advancing (into management or other) after 18 months and once you've hit goals and are ready for the next challenge. -Extremely high turnover affects office morale -"Rule" changes such as: a rule was introduced to enforce a roll call in the morning, internal CRM system changes (that result in getting fired if you don't learn or disobey them), certain number of "activities" in the CRM system required...or else -No company loyalty to employees or top producers -Micromanaging management and no flexibility or resources for telecommuting -No job security and frequency of keeping employees on their toes and/or threats of losing jobs -Shrinking need for talented people in this industry; soon, it will be a call center only business -Careless attitude in regards to employee retention

Pros

Cogent's product set is narrow, but highly competitive within the market. When you've got someone who fits the niche, they're likely to go your way. They compete primarily on price and back up the sales force with excellent customer support.

Cons

The daily grid of transactional sales is rather monotonous, even when experiencing success. As soon as you're used to the rules and policies, they're changed.
