Pros

Maybe free trip to D.C. for training. But that's not even training to begin with. You get housed in the hotel and stay for a week. But you just meet the different parts of operations and IT. All the while, you are told you have support. etc etc. But, it doesn't matter. Because once you get to your desk after training. All that non-sense goes out the window. oh you need a marketing event?, gets halted by management and director.

Cons

The company has ever changing policies quite literally for few weeks. The whole "siebel rules of engagement" for supporting over 200 reps is ridiculous. Secondly, in a position such as a RAM I or RAM II. It's extremely hard to even sell, when most of the time accounts are being kept. here's what to expect. 40-60 calls a day which is normal for sales. But you're calls will be sent to you every day. Based on how many calls, how many emails in bound and outbound. How many minutes on the phone. Talk time per avg user. What to expect also is.. after your ramp. every 1st business day at EOM. Expect to say goodbye to your colleagues. The turn over here is ridiculous. It's no joke hat even the best sales reps are on PIP (performance improvement plan).

Pros

Good base salary, great commission rate Managers are very accessible and helpful

Cons

They don't give you enough time to build a book, they fire you after 6-9 months if you're below quota Veterans of the company are shady, exploit the system to keep accounts they shouldn't have and steal yours out from under you You only have 30 days to find an opportunity with a potential client, but contracts last 3 years long so most companies aren't in a position to buy (like finding a needle in a haystack) You aren't paid until the service is installed, sometimes that's 90-120 days after you close the deal

Pros

Cogent's product set is small (primarily IP bandwidth), but highly competitive within the market. Mostly sell on "price". has excellent customer service and support. The team environment, for the most part, is young and energetic.

Cons

Very small/limited product set, compete on "price" only even though management always tell you sell on value. If it's truly a value proposition, they shouldn't need to always try to lower the price, which shows more desperation than anything. The daily grid of transactional sales is rather monotonous. Constantly rule and policy changes
