Pros

Stable company. Large distribution network. Access to nearly all vendors and manufacturer partners in IT space.

Cons

Incredibly slow to enact change. Very outdated sales systems and processes. Homegrown CRM system is woefully inefficient, and littered with bad data. Biggest factors in success of new reps is attrition and turnover, not hard work and effort. Six employees have quit in the last 6 weeks. Many HR liabilities throughout the office that go ignored. Avoid at all costs.

Strategic partnerships with top tier vendors to provide a full spectrum of IT services define the essence of Connection’s offerings. As a publically held, Fortune 1000 entity employing over 2,000 individuals, our balance sheet is strong and supports your “stable” assessment. Implementing an agile approach relative to change is not always feasible. We will state with certainty that our executives are invested in strategically positioning Connection to achieve future success. We are invested in making policy and procedural improvements that will benefit the organization as a whole. Working together, areas requiring improvement are identified, tactfully discussed and assessed for implementation. As an example, CRM enhancements occurred in 2017 and will continue to receive attention in 2018 and beyond. We will respectfully disagree with your assessment that hard work and effort do not contribute to success at Connection as an Account Manager. In today’s business climate, building a portfolio is not an easy feat. In addition to selling the competitive advantages that Connection brings to the table, successful account managers build relationships with their customers, develop effective solutions to address the customers’ needs and respond timely to changing customer demands. Successful account managers strive to enhance customer loyalty. In our book, that requires effort and diligence that will net results. We are committed to investing in a corporate culture committed to excellence. Our HR Business Partners exhibit integrity beyond reproach. They are always willing to lend support and provide guidance to employees seeking counsel. If there are liabilities at any Connection facility, employees are encouraged to engage the HR Business Partner or a member of the management team. Thank you for your feedback.

Pros

Great pay. Great bonus gifts and prizes for vendors. You will making 6 figures quickly. Yearly achievers trip. Written thank you notes from your director when you make goal. Free breakfast and lunches. After work events. Company wide outings and events. Patriot players come to a BBQ every year. No weekends. Great vacation time and all major holidays. Unlimited commissions and spiffs. Big break rooms and cafe. Weekly and monthly trainings. We are definitely spoiled.

Cons

I love Connection, but I'd be lying if I didn't mention JDE. it has to be updated. It takes so long to maneuver it takes you away from more important work. We are a leader in IT but not in our own company. Updating JDE should be priority 1 in 2018. I also wish other depts would have the same goals as sales. We strive to take care of our customers and get them their products in a timely manner. Other depts strive to push back on sales. If you don't match your 19 notes exactly on licensing orders it will be put on hold. Then they will note and close case. If you don't go back and check your order several times a day it will not process. Advice to management please remind other depts that simple changes like capitalizing a letter on an order is ok. Favoritism is a huge problem. When someone leaves accounts are given to reps that are the supervisors favorites. I think they should be divided up equally. If rep leaves 20 buying acounts, 17 shouldn't be given to the supervisors favorite. Especially if that rep is on a pip. PIPS. There is no standard. You see reps that go on them after 3 months but then see reps who haven't made goal in 8 or 9 months with no PIP. We saw a rep taken of a PIP so she could go on the Achievers trip last year. You have to curb the favoritism. It is bad for moral. Curb the sexism. Stop the boys club mentality. Male sales reps get all the leads and accounts handed to them. The majority of the successful women have found and developed their accounts on their own. BDM. Please hire more! They are instrumental in developing our accounts. They are spread to thin. We need more and asap.

Thank you for sharing the cornucopia of perks associated with employment at Connection. We are vested in our employee population as evident in providing a robust benefits package that is inclusive of competitive compensation, generous earned time allowances and career development opportunities. Sexism has no place in the workplace and will not be tolerated. In addition to being an equal opportunity employer, Connection is proud to cultivate a work environment of mutual respect. There are several factors that come into play when accounts are transitioned to another account manager, of which favoritism is not sanctioned. In order to grow and be profitable, it is realistic for the company to set performance standards. If there is a gap between present and acceptable performance, an employee may have a formal discussion regarding their performance. If appropriate for the circumstances, a formal performance improvement plan (PIP) may be created. The working document is an opportunity for the manager and employee to create an action plan for improvement that reflects how the manager will support the employee in meeting the expectations outlined. We continue to invest in our infrastructure to provide tools (such as our order processing system, JDE) to streamline our processes and elevate productivity. Our sales support organization is in the business of enabling sales and not hindering. We recognize that working cohesively will result in a better relationship with your colleagues and your customers. Along those lines, Business Development Managers (BDM) can have a profound impact on an account manager’s portfolio. Your suggestions will be reviewed with the sales leadership team.
