Pros

Some staff truly prioritize patient care and truly are a gift to Copa Health. Bonus is available but if you are new staff you are expected to sign a 2 year contract to stay with Copa Health to receive bonus or pay it back.

Cons

Every meeting, clinical training or monthly all site meeting is primarily focused around meeting productivity and units. Ultimately, as a case manager you need to commit fraudulent billing to ensure you meet units and not to get written up. Leadership is aware of this and will mandate staff attend presentation on billable units, although still expect 22 units a day. I personally have been put in dangerous situations by Copa Health. A client was an administrative transfer to our clinic with a safety plan in place but receiving clinic did not receive this information from leadership, the member then broke into the suite, team was locked in a room while member attempted to break into the room with a fire extinguisher. Two of the case managers who were put into this situation were pregnant. Copa Health took away case management week to save money.

Pros

Most of the front line employees are wonderful people who have good hearts, great work ethic, and are very compassionate.

Cons

Since the merger happened in 2019, and the two companies became COPA, the culture became far worse. Employees feel they no longer have a voice with the administration. HR is nonresponsive and has very high turnover. With PIR, there was a sense that although the work can be stressful, the company did its best to be there and listen to those employees at the clinics. However, now it is a very "top down", directive approach where administration tells clinic employees what the changes will be and is not willing or receptive to listen to the staff they are directing the changes toward. The front line employees are compassionate toward those clients they serve and those employees would appreciate some of that same compassion and kindness shown to them from administration.

Pros

Some of the coworkers and clients are the reason I didn’t crash my car on my way into the office.

Cons

“Dumping false core values and pretending to care with scripted Roadshows” is one of the most accurate statements about this company I’ve read. Leadership does NOT care. COPA health allows employees to be subjected to unlawful harassment, and when you speak up about the harassment, COPA health then chooses to retaliate. The culture is bullying with manipulation, they will beat your spirit black and blue then have the audacity to ask what’s wrong with you. It’s giving Trump/Musk vibes with entire departments being shut down. Poor leadership, poor planning, poor business structure, lack of training (putting both clients and staff in unsafe situations), management is willing to overlook illegal workplace activities- let's hope that the lawsuits don’t settle and go to court so we can read all about the unethical and illegal practices.
