Not what it used to be

Pros

Team members were kindred spirits for the most part, helpful and supportive, and some would go out of their way to be collegial despite being very busy

Cons

Company bought by a hedge fund in 2023 and the culture changed drastically; despite stating they were people-centric, it was ALL about the bottom line, often (according to management colleagues) down to $5 quibbles. They laid off 225 people in one day in August 2023 and closed the entire proposal department.

Pros

I absolutely mean it - there is zero benefit working in this hellhole.

Cons

Was employed with CTS (Silverwater - Australia) I will write my horrific (nightmarish) experience working here, warning future employees rethink their choices before joining in with this company. When I joined in the beginning of this year, there were talks everywhere the employee working before me in this position left within 1 month. My biggest mistake was not to pay attention to this important message. After all, starting as a new employee it is nearly impossible to refuse and start looking for other jobs from the day one. - Workplace misdemeanor, harassment and abuse are very commonplace in this company. There are instances where people from higher management come with gestures as if they are going to beat their employees up. Yelling and screaming are normalized. - A sense of alienation, people refusing to communicate with one another, used to give kind of eerie feeling. - Huge gate keeping of information just to make sure works are hampered enough and higher management is okay with that. - There is no work life balance. Technicians will call 3AM, 4AM, early in the morning, you will literally have zero sleep working in this job. - Although working hours are mentioned 8-5, managers will start calling and chasing from 7 in the morning. - Harassment by your manager, getting bullied is very common in this company culture. - From my fifth day of joining, seeing employees are being made redundant. Technicians are revolting downstairs. There is always some fights going on with employees and managers or technicians or higher management. After 3 months in this job, I had to book appointment with counselor. Finally after reaching my limit, complained to HR about my manager. As expected, nothing happened and 20 days later, I was terminated. But that was a good riddance from my life. Good things started happening only after I was done with this hellhole.
