Pros

30% employee discount is awesome

Cons

Very few hours but the company wants open availability and won't work with you if you have a second job. Some people were fired for this. Managers show favoritism to those who get the most Rewards accounts, even if they're fake sign-ups. No room to grow if you as hired as part-time. Most management positions are filled by people from outside the company. You know your company sucks when you have to offset real negative reviews with fakes people have been forced to write smh

Pros

The managers are friendly and eager to help you out. The discount is 30% on all merchandise and it goes up to 40% a few times a year. The environment is pretty laid back and most of the staff are chill. There are several tasks you can be assigned to so you end up doing what you're best at most of the time (cashiering, working the floor, unloading boxes, etc.). Managers are accommodating with scheduling, allowing time for school and honoring requests as long as they're in before the schedule for next week is made (usually around Monday the week before).

Cons

REWARDS. As a cashier, you are supposed to keep at 58% (but much higher is preferred) of reward signups vs. people who say no. There's no real punishment if you don't, but there is so much emphasis on this and praise given to top performers that it can get really stressful. Even if you're not ringing you're pressured to get floor sign ups by approaching people as they shop and asking them if they get our coupons, then gathering personal information. Other cons are technology (we have tablets we are required to use, but they're slow and buggy), complete lack of opportunities for advancement within the company as an associate (managers seem to be almost always hired externally), and the fact that, at least at my store, only part time associates are hired. That means up to 25 hours/week in busier seasons, but 15 or less over the summer. That's why it's better as a second job or for students in my opinion.
