Appalling work/life balance and dysfunctional senior management
Pros
Good pay and still allowing flexible working from home.
Cons
You often have to work from 7 a.m. to midnight to conduct meetings with Japan, often multiple days per week. There is a very heavy meeting schedule with so many meetings a waste of time. Project teams are not empowered. Instead, senior "leaders" with inadequate or inappropriate experience for the task at hand expect to be decision makers, often overruling suggestions from project teams and functional experts (who have often already liaised with several external opinion leaders). This is very demotivating for many team members and project teams frequently do not feel empowered, but rather quite demoralized. There is often a daunting process to get approval for even the most trivial decision, with endless meetings and sometimes over 20, 30 or 40 reviewers making pointless comments, all of which have to be acknowledge and addressed. This often wastes weeks of time for project team members and slows down projects compared to industry standards.
