Pros
Employees have access to the Lifeworks Resources, even after they are workforce downsized. All employees also get a good amount of paid time off as a new hires. Employees also have access to health benefits the first day they begin working. Ceridian employees are highly committed to providing excellent resources to their clients. Although Ceridian is a for-profit company (which is rather obvious to me now) the work their employees do is more like non-profit work. Managers, consultants, and researchers work hard everyday to improve the lives of their customers. They provide a service that isn't really matched by any other company, or at least they used to.
Cons
They tell you that you're downsized and then make you work for an undetermined amount of time. If you choose to terminate your employment before they let you go, you loose your severance and health benefits. Additionally, they make you train the people who are going to take over your job and do it with a fake smile plastered to your face. Management also clings to the idea that their employees "make great happen." Ceridian held a huge conference in January describing their "optimistic" position in the economy and less than a month later, they downsized many consultants and researchers. It really felt like a slap in the face.
