Pros

Good coworkers. If you are full time, there is guaranteed 39 hours a week.

Cons

Management is toxic, it is hard to get any recognition or praise because they tend to only focus on the negative things. I can't express how mentally draining it is now with the new management that is currently there. Any time you fight for a raise, there is nothing but excuses given back. It was not always like this but it is definitely taking a toll. With the new store hours, there is hardly any work-life balance. 11-8 shifts all week.

Pros

I was a beauty advisor at Dillard’s and I really enjoyed the selling aspect of the job, the customers are great and loyal, it’s extremely easy to build a stable clientele list in your first few months if you put in the effort. A big of pressure with AUS goals and pre-selling but it helps you meet your clients. and personally, i worked with some of the most wonderful women i’ve met and they made my experience a lot better than others, but not everyone is so lucky.

Cons

Commission is on limited brands for limited amounts of time (usually not more than a month) and your hiring manager will lie to you about this and tell you how much you could make in a weeks worth of commission, it is all a lie and i’m not sure how they get away with it. there’s is absolutely no training or supervision. the management is screwed up, they will lie to you to get their ways; advice to you is to google the information you need before speaking to a manager about so you can catch them when they try to lie to you. they put a lot of pressure on you but you’ll be able to handle it if you’re strong enough. literally no growth in the company, even though they say there is so much. no real or good benefits, no paid time off ( they say there is ).

Pros

Lots of latitude in the IT department and very little red tape.

Cons

It would take a lifetime to list the cons. The 2nd generation namesakes are garbage human beings, and have secured their spots in hell. The world will be a better place when they’re gone. I pity the poor people that work in the stores. Corporate life is bad enough, but Dillards perpetually works toward phasing their high performers out to hire cheaper associates. They simply have no concept of humanity, and it’s abundantly evident on the retail floors. If you’re thinking of working for Dillards, it breaks my heart. You’d have to be in a very tight spot to consider this place. There are 30K+ employees and NO HR DEPT. It’s as close to a privately owned publicly traded company as I’ve ever seen. They are Luddites and dictators.
