Pros

Free food and cool co-workers.

Cons

They keep changing the Comp plan drastically. They try and spin it as if it’s in the best interest of the employees and company but in reality it’s only good for the company. Went from $3-4K a month commission to $2400ish and now we’ll be lucky to clear OTE ($1250). They don’t match 401k even though they just received $535 billion in funding and say they can’t unless they take away free food. We receive 10 days PTO a year and 3 sick days while everyone else in the company has unlimited PTO. PTO at DD is a joke. Management is super young and just happened to have started years ago. They aren’t the most qualified and some have never had a job before but this one. Battle of the favorites here.

DoorDash - Stay Away... Company on the decline

Pros

The company has cool offices in the heart of the city.

Cons

- DoorDash is in 5th or 6th place in a low margin business behind UberEATS, Amazon, GrubHub, Postmates, and EAT24 - Profitability has gone from positive to negative in ever market that UberEATS has launched - DoorDash had too high of a valuation during the series B. New investors have preferred stock, and thus a sale would result in ZERO equity to employees

Thank you for taking the time to post a review. As a company built around open and honest feedback, we value hearing from our team, whether internally or externally. We appreciate that you feel our offices are cool, as it's our goal to have a functional space that employees enjoy coming into — it’s good to see that’s working :) As for the cons you have mentioned, we feel that working at DoorDash is a meaningful opportunity, and one of our biggest strengths is our focus on customers, the dashers on our network (delivery folks) and merchants, as opposed to that of our competition. We understand this is a competitive space, and enjoy the challenges that come with that. The ranking list that you shared is quite different than what we’ve seen in news publications and would appreciate if you could send a link to it through our officevibe leo anonymous feedback submission channel. I would add that we’re super excited about the intelligent people we've hired (and will continue to hire), that will shape not only our product, but our overall organization. We are proud that we offer equity at competitive levels to all regular full-time employees at DoorDash, and if we maintain focus on the true things that matter then any increase in equity value will be a nice final touch. As for profitability, we don’t speak to our financials on forums like this, however we are incredibly optimistic and confident about our past, current and future growth. We’ll keep setting challenging goals as we aspire to own the last mile. We encourage you to share any thoughts or concerns you have with the People Science team at DoorDash. They're enthusiastic about responding to employee concerns, and excel in connecting employees to resources, tools, and information to help them thrive in their role at DoorDash. We look forward to partnering with you to make DoorDash an even better place to work!

Pros

Nice office, close to Bart, typical startup perks. Bunch of smart, competitive, young people usually with banking or consulting experience (which could be a plus).

Cons

Where do I start? On-demand delivery is not a hot space to be in anymore. Margins are low and you need to be a market leader to generate any decent profit. Company took a downround in the last round of fundraising. No one here actually cares about the vision of the company, including the founders (despite their pitch to employees). People left their cushy corporate jobs expecting to make bank here...a mistake in hindsight because the options are worthless today. If there was a liquidity event, investors get paid out first and there is little left for employees. They oversell the positions during the hiring process. Roles are not as good as promised. Recently there has been a lot of restructuring in the company. Quite a few early employees left. Culture has become toxic with plenty of finger pointing and politics. People will throw you under the bus to look good. If someone has an issue with you, they'll talk crap behind your back. CEO only listens to the people in his inner circle. "Senior leaders" have a lot of ego and will complain about you to your manager if you disagree with them (quotations used because most of the "senior" team aren't that senior in experience). If you want to work at a place where you are under paid, over worked, constantly need to watch your back, play politics, and come out financially worse than at a 9 to 5 job, then DoorDash is the place for you.

Thanks so much for the feedback; we really appreciate hearing from our current and past employees. Many of us do love working in the logistics space because of the short and long term challenges it brings. There isn’t a simple answer to many of the questions we face but we are proud that we are setting and hitting amazing goals/milestones here at DoorDash. We are confident that if we can maintain focus then we’ll be the prominent player in the space. Furthermore, we know that DoorDash’s success is ultimately rooted in the success of our employees. Our People team is here to help our employees work on the things they are passionate about, and offer a safe environment to work in. This feedback is helpful in helping our People team evolve our programs and continue to be an employer of choice. Please feel free to reach out our way if you have any further feedback. Thanks so much, and have a great day!
