Pros

There is nothing to recommend this company as a Software Engineer. In 3 months at this company - I've maybe spent 2 days actually doing anything with code. If I'm looking for a pro - maybe its that salary was adequate. Not more than you can get anywhere else though.

Cons

Here's the boots on the ground reality: 1.) Deadlines are dictated. 2.) Forced OT 3.) Culture expects 45-50 hours a week 4.) Old Technology - and poor quality - they can't even produce regression tests for 5 year old software 5.) Software Engineers will do all QA - there is zero Quality support (OK - maybe some - they gave me a document template once!) 6.) PMO Will dictate your tasks and tell you - you will work weekends if the simple resource/hours division indicates it 7.) There is no reliable testing environment 8.) You will be on-call 9.) You will be responsible for Deadlines/Dev/QA/Delivery Instructions/Machine Definitions/Delivery and Production Support. You will be empowered for almost nothing. I feel like a total idiot for taking this job. Also I see one 5 star review - I don't know anyone who works there who felt anything like that. Take it for what you will.

A gamble

Pros

The pay is competitive, amount of paid time off is above average, and 401k contribution is above average. Generous work from home policies depending on your department. The company prefers to promote from within, which is good for expanding your career path. More and more folks outside the company are hearing about Zelle and using it, so if you get to work on that product, it's a good resume booster. Some employees are really helpful and happy to share their knowledge with newcomers.

Cons

It seems that the quality of your experience at Early Warning depends on the department you work in. During my time there, I met folks who were super happy with their position, manager, etc., and I met others who were absolutely miserable. My personal experience was pretty bleak. The culture and values are not applied consistently throughout the company. When it comes to work ethic, you'll find some folks who are happy to slack off without repercussions and others who work themselves to the bone to make up for it. When it comes to mistakes, poor decisions, or missed deadlines, you'll find some folks with integrity who will willingly say "that was my bad, I'll fix it" and others who will happily point their fingers at others or throw their teammates (or even their staff members) under the bus. The "pass the buck" mentality permeated multiple levels of management, and I personally saw a level of bullying and politics that drove talented, kind people out the door. I chose to leave because I worried that if I remained under such negative influences, I'd risk eventually becoming a worse person myself.

One hot mess!

Pros

I have worked for this company for over 5 years and I have see quite a bit. Nothing ever seems to improve and things only get worse. The only pro is the opportunities of the company. So many within a sea of incompetent management.

Cons

It all starts with the poor management team. A group of incompetent middle managers given positions of authority beyond their areas of expertise and abilities. They also engage in the most destructive political games that we have ever seen as some sort of defense mechanism. This was extremely apparent at a recent leadership meeting. We were all hopeful when the new CEO started but he seems to be unable to make the changes that are needed. Instead they bring in a group of consultants to tell us what we already know and then proceeds to focus terminations a layer or two down. Most of us who understand this and will be looking for new jobs and will likely jump at the next opportunity.
