Pros

Only positive about Echo is leaving Echo.

Cons

If you like working for an unethical employer that will put their small stock profits over your health and safety this is your place. Management belittles employees for working from home calling them scared and badgering them with derogatory names behind their backs to other employees in the office for choosing to work from home and avoid the virus following CDC regulations. They truly don’t care if their employees die, moving the freight is more important.

I feel compelled to respond as this post is inaccurate. In all Echo's actions, the safety of our employees was always at the center of everything. Echo acted very quickly to enable work from home for employees and was a front runner in our industry and in many of the cities we have locations. We were 100% remote capable by 3/13 and communicated to all employees on that date. In fact, we not only supported working from home but have very much encouraged it and most locations are 100% remote at this point. The quick actions by our response team and IT has had an overwhelming positive response with our employees. Echo followed CDC guidelines and in some instances took even more protective action then in the guidelines. This included asking employees who have symptoms to go home and not return without a doctors note, not allowing anyone tested back in the office until results were finalized, tracking and self quarantine employees that came in contact with a level 3 risk person or location. I couldn't be more proud of how our Echo community has come together to support each other and our customers.

Pros

Can make 6 figures if you work your tail off and also get lucky (having a group member quit / your manager hands you a huge account or two on a silver platter). But, your mom will continuously tell you that you should find another job probably because it doesn't sound that cool when she tells her friends what you do. Thanks mom.

Cons

If you don't receive that silver platter it's an uphill battle, strap in. You'll know in a year or two if you can survive. They pay for ZERO outside training / professional training of any kind and carrier reps rarely get offered the opportunity to visit their carriers unless that carrier is making the company $1m + in GP per year. The company favors customer reps, giving them tools such as Salesforce and offering travel. No Salesforce for carrier reps. Chicago office location is "cool" but holy bejesus could it be located in a worse location to get to the highway after work? Hope you can walk to work! Stock options for sales reps? NO chance. Advancement for sales reps? Get in line, maybe 4-5 manager position opens up per year, for 1500 sales reps to compete for! And if you're a manager you'll be there for 10-15 years waiting for some exec bloat to retire but they like their job too much sitting in "meetings" all day. Fairly confident you could remove 50% of the management positions and the company would still operate at 100% b/c these people have zero effect on our day to day operations other than sending out random emails about "market conditions" that we all already know because we sell in that market for 50+ hrs per week. Thanks captain obvious.

Pros

great work culture and great people to work with. They really try to make it a family and are always helping each other

Cons

New branch management led to a downhill of out of office activities such as happy hours or general work events. This job is extremely stressful and can be a real downer. The work outings were the highlight of the job. Mostly these events solidified teams relationships and comradery. These have decreased with new management and with a loss of over 10 people in 3 months have led to extremely poor employee morale. Without a change I'm sure, more will leave as I did.

While we are happy to see you were pleased with the culture, the people you worked with, and that you would recommend us, we are disappointed your experience didn’t live up to what you were seeking. We would be happy to connect with you further at hr@echo.com.”
