Pros

-Not true cold calling of sales - offering a service people already need -Beer on Fridays and company parties are fun -Youthful atmosphere -Casual work environment

Cons

-Micromanaging of employees - constant petty reminders to do your job and get your call numbers up -Prospecting new customers and carriers is hard to do when you are always business -No employee is truly valued - people can be fired or written up at any time -Company puts out staggered shifts, but they don't follow those rules - have to be released to leave (anywhere from a 10-13 hour work day) -Extremely difficult to make commission on a consistent basis - job is way too unstable and cyclical -Employees compensation is really low compared to the rest of the industry -Company is known to be extremely "cheap"

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. As with any sales position, reps are responsible for scheduling their own time and priorities. Managers will step in if needed to ensure their reps have the chance to realize their full potential or are not meeting expectations. Thanks for the feedback on staggered shifts as well. We understand that Carrier Sales Reps work long hours and work very hard. It is disappointing to hear you don’t believe employees are truly valued; we’ve done so much over the past year to show our employees that the exact opposite is true but there is always more that can be done. We'll keep working hard to be sure we recognize our talent and those who help us get better year after year. Thanks for the input, please go to HR directly if you would like to speak more specifically about your concerns.

IT Department downhill spiral

Pros

Great people to work with if not in management, catered lunch every other Friday, beer every Friday afternoon, team lunches, snacks for the late afternoon or early morning, morning crew breakfast, ping pong table and social events every other week like movie or game night.

Cons

IT Management consists of people that are baked in and comfortable at their job. They don't care about the engineers or about their careers. There is no formal training given or encouraged - you have to be proactive to learn on your own. With the new CIO, the mentality is that you are replaceable by consultants unless you are in management or enterprise architect. Consultants are brought in for quick wins instead of helping to staff a team. Some teams consist of one or two engineers doing the work for four people while other teams have six people doing the work of two. Favoritism is rampant like consultant being brought on full time and promoted to director or senior engineer promoted to enterprise architect. Decision on what technology to use keeps changing. Management cannot support or stick to one decision which in turn wastes company money and time.

Pros

Nothing. All the reviews that claim this place is a great place to work are written by management.

Cons

Pay is terrible, commission is unobtainable, favoritism, nepotism, etc.. such a joke
