Pros

FastSpring an effective and profitable, well-established startup of 50 or so employees with a SaaS offering at the intersection of payments, subscriptions and e-commerce. As the company was understaffed for many years before acquisition by current leadership there is there is a lot of opportunity for out-sized impact and accelerated growth in all areas of the business. Employees are treated as experts in their fields, feedback is heard, experimentation is encouraged, failure is not dwelled on.

Cons

Though profitable, this is after all, still a start up. Process is being developed, grooves are being found, not all experiments are successful, some "departments" are filled by team effort (like IT or HR). If you are a team player and like solving problems these are less like con's and more like engaging challenges.

Pros

Working with truly wonderful, smart, and competent coworkers. Good mission. Walks the "Employees are family" talk with exceptional benefits, such as half days every other Friday, unlimited PTO, and lots of tiny benefits that add up to a lot of love. Most employees like most other employees, which is huge. There is a lot of trust going both ways.

Cons

Salaries are lower than you could get elsewhere and the organization runs lean in terms of available hands to solve the many issues. I think it's a good tradeoff in return for which you get stability that's rare in tech; they're slow to hire, slow to promote, but they're slow to fire, and so far I've never seen a layoff.

Pros

Remote first, and FastSpring Friday's are amazing.

Cons

Will have a lot on your plate most of the time. You'll get to learn a lot.
