      Great Training Environment - Tax Associate H&R Block Employee Review

      Pros

      If you're looking for a very flexible job in tax this is the spot. Depending on your location/specialty the part time pay isn't too bad either. Good moonlighting experience. Also if you're new to tax w/ no experience its an entry level position that will teach the basics. If you're more advanced there are still ample opportunities here as well, specifically for EA's ((which they'll train you for)

      Cons

      It's just seasonal retail tax so don't look for long term employment. Though there is familiarity with HR to the masses it doesn't hold the same notoriety as traditional public accounting firm either. Some preparers make mistakes on clients returns and clients can come to you as if it's your mistake

      Pros

      H&R Block provides thorough training, and employees should expect to study continuously throughout the season. The training is valuable and helps build a strong understanding of tax preparation. There are opportunities to "level up," and advancing through the certification levels can lead to higher pay over time. Management is approachable and readily available when assistance is needed.

      Cons

      The position is seasonal, and the starting pay is $12 per hour. During peak tax season, employees may work very long hours—sometimes up to 10 hours a day, 6 to 7 days a week—which can be physically and mentally exhausting. In my first month, I also found that some of the staff were not especially welcoming, which made the initial adjustment more challenging.
