Pros

The team atmosphere make this job enjoyable. There is a system for everything. This company is organized. Pay is based on prior year revenue which makes it fair. Top Producers can earn as much as 60 bucks an hour or 100k during the 4 month tax season. Training is provided to become an Enrolled Agent. Enrolled agents can make 100k easily. You can become an Enrolled Agent in 1 year.

Cons

Pay is typically low. First year is typically minimum wage and you have to bring in and create clients. . Because it's seasonal, you should have another job on the side especially during your first years. The company gets 3 bucks for every buck they pay you.

Pros

Amazing company culture. Employees genuinely love hanging out with the interns and would take us to lunch to chat about anything we wanted.

Cons

I didn't get to pick the exact information technology placement, it was random for all the incoming interns.

Pros

H&R Block provides thorough training, and employees should expect to study continuously throughout the season. The training is valuable and helps build a strong understanding of tax preparation. There are opportunities to "level up," and advancing through the certification levels can lead to higher pay over time. Management is approachable and readily available when assistance is needed.

Cons

The position is seasonal, and the starting pay is $12 per hour. During peak tax season, employees may work very long hours—sometimes up to 10 hours a day, 6 to 7 days a week—which can be physically and mentally exhausting. In my first month, I also found that some of the staff were not especially welcoming, which made the initial adjustment more challenging.
