Pros

The location I was assigned to is great! Less than 10 minute drive. The Office Manager is awesome! The rest of the team so far seem nice. Very flex-able hours. Lots to learn and I stay well occupy with all the updates on IRS changes.

Cons

The pay to start for a First Year is pretty low, considering HR Block is a HUGE company. It kind of make me feel like working at Walmart where they pay their employees so low they need to apply for Public Assistant. Considering the field of work and because it is Seasonal, the starting pay should be at least $12. No great Benefits for Seasonal employment. HR Block need to provide their employees with Free HR Block apparels such as T-Shirts and Shirts (Free walking advertisements)? You have to pay a $20 Annual fee for continuing education? It should be free working for the company!

Pros

H&R Block provides thorough training, and employees should expect to study continuously throughout the season. The training is valuable and helps build a strong understanding of tax preparation. There are opportunities to "level up," and advancing through the certification levels can lead to higher pay over time. Management is approachable and readily available when assistance is needed.

Cons

The position is seasonal, and the starting pay is $12 per hour. During peak tax season, employees may work very long hours—sometimes up to 10 hours a day, 6 to 7 days a week—which can be physically and mentally exhausting. In my first month, I also found that some of the staff were not especially welcoming, which made the initial adjustment more challenging.
