Pros
-Upper management has a clear vision, company struggled with this in the 00's - Opportunities for advancement. I started as a seasonal call center employee and was elevated to a career track position within 1 year. - Atmosphere is positive since so many employees started in the call center or retail tax offices which requires a friendly and tactful disposition. - More diverse and open minded than average for companies in the KC metro, many women and gay men in leadership positions. Not overtly Republican in atmosphere like many small KS and MO offices.
Cons
- I didn't have an exit interview, or any contact with HR, which seems really weird after 3 years of employment. - Corporate culture is still very old-school in many ways, struggling to attract millennials. Creativity and self expression are only tolerated on the IT and customer service floors. If you work in Finance, or anywhere near the top of the building be sure to act composed and professional at all times. - Education and Development opportunities are minimal if you aren't in IT/Software Dev. No job rotation programs, leadership talks about training, but when I asked to take an SQL course or other analyst skills each year I was told that there was no budget. - Long parts of the year where I had no work to do, but since I was hourly, had to be in the office appearing to be busy. I really wish I could have done a job rotation instead of surfing the internet for 2 months.
