Pros

- A way to get your foot in the door in the tech industry. This job as a QA Engineer helped in getting my next job as a Software Developer. If you can't get an engineering position elsewhere, then that's a good reason to take this job for the experience. - The work is generally very low-stress without hard deadlines - Casual work environment - Exposure to a variety of tech stacks across multiple projects - Some of the clients' developers I worked with when writing automated tests were really cool and I learned a lot from them - Low pay, though I could have requested a raise

Cons

- Engineering manager could be a bit intimidating, sort of a negative toxic vibe - Uncertainty of future work. I was a QA Engineer but during a period of time when we had no engineering work, I was assigned to manual testing (SO boring). While I survived layoffs, I did witness two rounds of layoffs. One small layoff of QA Engineers after the completion of a project, and the other was letting go a handful of manual testers after a client dropped QualityLogic. - Lack of an option for remote work (not sure if this changed after covid, I left before that). However I don't think remote work would be at all possible for manual testers, since they frequently have to checkout a variety of devices to test software on. - The building kinda sucks. The side of the building where the manual testers are is sort of crammed, not a lot of space between you and the person next to you. - Fix the bathroom fan!... it was broken the entire time I worked there and was grosssss

Thank you for your detailed review. We appreciate when our past and current team members take the time to provide honest feedback. From your comments, it’s very clear to us that it’s been some considerable time since you have worked with us, and a lot has changed in that time, especially for the engineering team! In that time, we’ve grown from just a handful of engineers to 30+ and the growth continues! We have been able to do this by providing an excellent work environment that includes challenging work that our team members can get excited about, and competitive pay and benefits. It’s too bad you weren’t around to see how things have changed. Perhaps we will work together again in the future.
