Once your in, you're trapped. Empty promises of raises, bonuses, stock options (IPO is always 'soon'). Teams are restructured on whims every quarter, in 3 years - witnessed 400% turnover in C-Suite and Director level. No one lasts more than 3 years (except those with family ties) with shadow layoffs virtually every week across senior leadership.

Despite the outward appearance of being a dynamic and thriving workplace, there are significant issues beneath the surface. The company's culture often rewards those who conform and turn a blind eye to actual problems rather than addressing them. “See no evil/hear no evil” is a large dynamic in this company's culture. Even when "evil" is seen or heard by many, it’s simply ignored out of fear of retaliation. Leadership, especially at the department head level, is filled with individuals who act as "yes men," prioritizing their own job security and inflated egos over the well-being of their teams. This has created an environment where employees walk on eggshells, fearful of speaking up or challenging the status quo. Disagree with a leader and you’re labeled “insubordinate” as if working at Equipmentshare was akin to being in the military, where you're expected to "Follow Orders" without questioning unethical directives. HR's role in this is particularly disappointing. Complaints about incompetent or abusive leaders are frequently ignored, and there seems to be little accountability for those in management positions. Instead of taking action to improve the workplace, HR and executive leadership appear to protect these ineffective leaders as long as they remain loyal to the CEO. There is a cult-like vibe about it where loyalty trumps integrity. Additionally, there is a strong push from the internal PR team to solicit positive reviews and create a false image of a harmonious workplace. This facade is misleading, dangerous, and does not reflect the reality many employees face daily. The focus seems more on maintaining an "everything is awesome" narrative rather than fostering genuine employee satisfaction and engagement.
