Small size of patient population makes for more personalized care. Diversity of staff minimizes cliquish behavior. The scheduler also takes into consideration personal needs and requests, which is a big plus over computerized first come, first served scheduling.

Cons

Occasional high turnover on staff which seems endemic to nursing profession these days.
