Pros

Free insurance Job security The integrity of the company is stellar

Cons

Nepotism and Favoritism In some departments including the department that I worked, there is a high level of nepotism. If you are not part of the "boys' club" or if you don't socialize with them, you are not part of the "in" group. This culture is totally demoralizing to hard working employees. Your chances of being noticed through hard work and dedication will go unnoticed. You don't stand a chance no matter how much effort you put into to get noticed through hard work and dedication. This type of leadership and management style is totally unfair it decreases employee morale to an all time low. It was disheartening and demoralizing I could not stand it anymore I had to leave. Focus too much on fresh graduates The Company has put so much emphasis on newly graduates that just got hired, give them a year or two and they get promoted with lack of experience, skills and qualifications. They have forgotten about the the long term employees who are proven and tested commodities that have acquired skills through training and experience. These long term employees have proven their worth, loyalty and dedication to the company. The company rather see their long term employees leave one by one than giving them a second chance to re-evaluate their careers and giving them a chance to advance in the Company. Poor Pay The salary is below the industry standard. I've talked to a few long time employees. We feel that once we hit the salary cap, we won't get any raise even if we continue to do a great job and improve at our craft. The raise has stopped. There is yearly performance review. No matter how excellent you are at what you do and how well you work with your co-workers, you will get a handsome review but the raise is non existent. They provide excuses why you won't get the raise. Cold-Hearted Management and HR No matter how long you worked for the company, gave your whole life to service this company with hard work and dedication, when it's time to say goodbye they don't give you the dignity you asked for. I could say that HR and management are very cold-hearted people.

Pros

Health insurance. Not much else.

Cons

You will go far if you want to work long days and relocate to various different states (or countries) within the network. In Expeditor's linqua, this is translated as "you've got what it takes". If this is not what you're willing to do, then you are considered lazy or lacking in motivation. Corporate has ZERO idea as to what goes on in the branch offices. There is a reason why Expeditors is extremely profitable every year - they pay their operational employees squat. If you're an operational employee in one of the branches, it's not at all unheard of to be working for the company for over 10 years and still not surpass the $35/$40,000 mark. Honestly, it's quite sad.

Pros

Company picks up healthcare for your entire family right away. They like to promote from within instead of hiring outside. There is job security throughout whatever the economy is doing. They don't layoff a bunch of people in order to make more money. They corporate level really seems to care a lot about family and want you to succeed.

Cons

Extremely low pay for the industry. Supervisors and Managers micro manage often and will send you emails asking why you were away from your desk for any period of time. It also has the "Office Space" feel when you make a mistake because you will hear it from numerous supervisors on what happened. They are extremely email orientated and there is little communication via phone or in person because management wants to keep your replies to use against you down the road. Management doesn't want to add more employees to help with the workload because that would effect the amount of monthly bonus they will receive. Don't call in sick because it will be questioned and your work will not be completed. Don't think about being promoted because it likely won't happen unless you want to move to a different state.
