Pros

- Innovative technology in operations - Care about national healthcare cost - Up to par with new pharmaceutical trends, government regulation and drug pricing - Competitive pay in the area

Cons

- Make a lot of serious patient safety issues (Class 1 errors) - Poor processes - some of the processes are questionable with patient safety - Poor documentation - Extremely dull HR and IT practices - Doesn't allow people to move up - I don't see any evidence encouraging lateral moves if your department is restructuring - Senior managements show favoritism and make decisions personally (instead of professionally) - Benefit package is average, but below par compared to other Forbes 100 companies

Pros

Great benefits, plenty of PTO, good bonus when you get it. Decent, caring co-workers. Great resume builder for future ex-express scripts careers.

Cons

Forced ranking (calibration) is the worst. Managers have to rank employees 20% Stretch (full bonus, merit increase), 70% Target (smaller bonus, smaller merit), and MUST put 10% at threshold (no bonus, no raise). Even if you're have all excellent performers. You manager must debate your worth against others in your salary level, with other managers who know nothing about you but have a say in your ranking. They dredge up things from years ago to "prove" a person is not worthy. Because of constant mgmt changes, little historical knowledge is retained so these stories get inflated. Lord of the Flies esque. Long hours, little "thanks" from management. Sr managers don't have a clue how the department works. Lots of busy work.

Pros

Pay is average. There are fine people working here but you generally don't make friends with them cause they don't stick around long. Its is a Fortune 500 company so that does look real good on your resume. You might learn Oracle if they ever get it working right so that's good too. Nice clean bathroom all over the place. Free parking and a nice lake to walk around.

Cons

Very negative place to work. HR is very keen on hiring people who all fit certain groups and ignoring the other group. Benefits are really low for a Fortune 500 they give just the bare bones when it come to them giving you benefits. Had better 401 match at a company that only had one location and like 400 employees. Have to work overtime with very little notice. Your wont get promotion or pay increase unless you are liked by your supervisor no matter how good a worker you are cause they don't like you and forget about bonuses cause they are in charge of who gets a bonus too. Never worked anywhere that had bonus program like that. Never hear any real news on what the place is trying to do they just change things around and say it will make us more productive but it doesn't. Seems like they think they have to do this to make it look good to corporate that they are doing something instead of just running the place and doing a good job
