Pros

Insurance plan is better than other places as long as you have no serious medical issues that require consistent care.

Cons

There are so many. It is not uncommon to be hired at a lower paying position, after initial training, you are then "cross trained" into another, higher paying department. It is not unheard of to be in that higher position for extended periods of time without getting the compensation or title recognition that goes along with the work. When you ask about getting the promotion to that department, you are told that there are no current openings in that department and that you are just "helping to get through the work load". This is nothing more than a "patch work company". The only reason they have gotten to where they are is by acquiring other companies. Prior to buying Medco, the company used a computer program that is not even taught in current IT training schools anymore. Forget the work / life balance. The company feels that they are and should be the #1 priority in your life. You get time off weekly based off of the hours you have worked, good luck using that time off though. When you request the time off, it is approved based off work volume and how many other people in a large department or combination of multiple departments, have already been approved for that day off. There is no consistency. In 2013, the company changed the policy on their attendance 3 times within 1 year. If you have an issue with attendance issues because of medical issues, then ask your supervisor to decrease your hours in an effort to minimize your attendance issues, you are told based on work volume, they cannot approve a decrease in work hours. Problem is the at the same time, multiple departments are running out of work and offering employees VTO (voluntary time off). They also have a habit of hiring people fresh off the street that have just applied for a Pharmacy Technician Trainee license that have absolutely NO knowledge of any medications, medical abbreviations or anything else even remotely related to the field.

Pros

- very good salary and benefits - high potential if management is changed and true leaders are brought on

Cons

- when you compare your salary with how many hours you actually work (versus what's written in the contract), it doesn't look so good anymore - no work/life balance - ineffective processes - management is incapable of making quick decisions, and/or change their mind on a daily basis - lack of accountability - new processes are not assessed for impact on all stakeholders, - lack of employee support from their manager - lack of resources to execute on the approved projects - reactive organization - and so many more
