Only take the job if you have no other choice
Pros
Most people are generally friendly, at least a few people are willing to collaborate in each department. The majority of employees try to do a good job
Cons
Everything else. There is no work-life balance for anyone, even for direct supervisors. Management is expected to give the lip-service about patient care and quality of work but outside of meetings everyone knows there is too much red tape, miscommunication, and poor training to get the work done correctly. This company cares about its bottom line, never let them tell you different. The pay depends on who you worked for before the merger. From the Medco side, they have announced massive layoffs and closed entire facilities, then hired on the Express Scripts side for lower pay. With lower pay comes less experience, just another barrier to quality care for the patient. Raises and bonuses have been frozen for 3 years and I don't expect that to change. The employees have nothing to work towards or achieve other than their next paycheck and that is the only thing that keeps most of us there until we can find something else. They also REQUIRE you to use their services or the prescription plan won't cover the medications at the same rate. I've learned that this requirement isn't just for employees, its also for patients (including my own mother who works for company in contract to Express Scripts.) I have never, EVER felt so undervalued as an employee.
