Pros

Great hours - ability to work 40 hours Monday to Friday which is rare in pharmacy world Great benefits and great 401K matching which is one of the highest in the industry Employees start with 4 weeks of vacation per year which is significantly higher than industry standard Merit based evaluations so if you work hard you get rewarded more than those who don't work as hard Tech pay is higher than other pharmacy companies Pharmacist pay is lower but work-life balance, benefits, and PTO make up for it Pharmacist retention rates are extraordinary and I have not heard of a single pharmacist leave because they didn't like the job I know tech attrition rate is high but I don't know why

Cons

Company believes in constant change and changing while change is occurring which leads to stress for employees. Company needs to choose the direction for the year and stick to it and not change things on a daily basis (new policies, new SOPs, new rules, new guidelines, new contacts, new goals, new metrics happen alllllll the time). As soon as a goal is met, the bar is raised higher. If we as a team work extremely hard to meet the goal, management thinks it was a breeze so they raise next months goal.

Pros

I enjoyed my coworkers, a lot of people trying to do a good job. The pay is good enough - not superior. Great technology in the pill fill area and cutting costs. Work was challenging and there is a lot to do. I think the company tries to be a good employer but managers listen to consultants and themselves and not the people in the trenches so their efforts are not as effective.

Cons

Horrible work live balance - so bad they stopped using to term around me. In many cases GE forced rankings are politically decided and then annual reviews are made to fit the rating which I find dishonest and unfair. Very poor investment in people and software technology. Could be move effective if they had better feedback loops like chargeback on infrastructure and invested in software technology - better tools, current tools at a reasonable release - rather than changing after software goes off support. Their cost saving plans hurt some patients, including me. They should give doctors more control over the care of patients and not squeeze as much out of stingy pharmacy benefits so they can make higher profits. Managers tend to live in ivory towers and look down on and disregard the workes.

systemic lack of leadership

Pros

- strong pay scale, bonus plan and equity. - plenty of opportunity to grow, work and learn a wide variety of areas of the business.

Cons

- leadership (all levels: Dir, Sr Dir, to M1 VP, M2 VP to C-level) do not support change. They are unwilling, incapable of having tough conversations with each other toward driving meaningful change for ESI's business. - Sr leadership is unwilling to see thru the "spin" and "storytelling" that runs rampant. - these leadership levels will and do "eat their own" in order to avoid accountability or hard conversations. All under the message: Express Way values. - the industry is about price: CVS and others win business based on price, period. Leadership starting at the top continues to imagine that plan sponsors will pay for the "clinical" expertise.
