Pros

Free Lunch on Tues and Thurs.

Cons

Almost everything. Useless and out of touch upper management. Unrealistic sales targets. Preferred treatment of some employees that kiss up to them. High Turnover. No significant product innovation. Competitors beat in all other areas of tech growth. This only a small list of cons.

Pros

IC level colleagues are typically great. ENG and Product leadership is finally starting to figure out how to work together. Health care is decent and end of year wellness week. It’s a good place to get a few years experience in a new area or role for your resume. If you’re semi competent and have a backbone, work life balance is pretty good. Simon is awesome.

Cons

New exec team wrecked and continues to wreck company culture and the share price. All new incoming execs appear to be white guys affiliated with Cisco. HR is oddly invested in trying to develop bad managers that are destroying teams instead of, you know, getting rid of bad managers and keeping good ICs. Sales can’t seem to figure out how to compensate good sellers and drop sellers that game incentives for a better payout. Everyone wants “data driven decisions” but the already anemic data team keeps getting smaller?

Pros

The people at Fastly are hard to beat. Most are incredibly smart, kind, savvy, and generous with their time. In a highly technical space, I’ve found many are happy to share their knowledge and help level-up cross-functional team members. The products we offer are incredibly strong in their own right and I’m excited about the future roadmap.

Cons

The company culture took a hit in the latest layoff. Add to this that the stock isn’t in a great place, and teams are pushed to do more with less resources and we get to a less than ideal operating cadence.
